Mr Hossam Abdalla FRCOG
Clinical Director
Mr Abdalla is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Director of The Lister Fertility Clinic. He is a leading fertility expert and, under his direction, the clinic has grown into one of the largest and most successful fertility centres in the UK.
Mr Abdalla publishes and lectures on many aspects of assisted conception, having a particular interest in oocyte donation and in women with reduced ovarian reserve and high FSH. Mr Abdalla is a highly-experienced gynaecological surgeon and performs various operative procedures at the Lister, including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and the removal of fibroids (myomectomy). He is also a member of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).
Dr Marie Wren MRCOG
Deputy Director
Dr Wren is a Fertility Specialist and Deputy Medical Director of the Lister Fertility Clinic. She joined the clinic in 1991 from King’s College Hospital, having previously worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals.
Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine
Dr Taylor is a Fertility Consultant at The Lister Fertility Clinic. She joined the clinic in 2005 from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, where she had been since 1991. In 1998 she was appointed Consultant and Senior Lecturer in Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’. There, she ran the assisted conception unit and was involved in organising the teaching programme for medical students.
Dr Taylor performs surgical procedures at the Lister including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and myomectomy. She also sees patients for consultations at The Lister Fertility Clinic at 31 Old Broad Street, London EC2N 1HT.
Dr Jaya Parikh MD FRCOG
Fertility Consultant
Dr Parikh is a Fertility Consultant at the Lister Fertility Clinic. She joined the clinic in 2000, having previously worked and trained at the Kent and Surrey Hospitals and in the IVF unit at Mayday University Hospital in Surrey.
Dr Parikh has a particular interest in treating women with high FSH, low AMH (reduced ovarian reserve). She has been involved in research projects undertaken in the unit. She has published in British and international journals.
Dr Yau Thum MD
Fertility Consultant and Specialist in Reproductive Immunology
Dr Thum is a Fertility Specialist at the Lister Fertility Clinic. He joined the clinic in 2002, having previously worked as a Research Fellow at assisted conception units at King’s College and St George’s Hospitals, London.
Dr Thum continued his research in reproductive immunology, which includes natural killer cells, recurrent failed implantation after IVF treatment and recurrent miscarriage of immunological origins. He has also published widely on his research in reproductive immunology, women with elevated FSH and IVF treatment in conjunction with egg-sharing.
Mr Raef Faris MRCOG
Gynaecology and Fertility Consultant
Mr Faris is a Fertility Consultant at the Lister Fertility Clinic. He first joined the clinic as a Research Fellow in 2003 and then went to complete his training in Nottingham, rejoining the Lister as an accredited consultant in 2007.
Mr Faris performs operative procedures at the Lister including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and the removal of fibroids (myomectomy).
Mr James Nicopoullos BSc MBBS MD MRCOG DFFP
Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine
Mr Nicopoullos is a Fertility Consultant in the Lister Fertility Clinic. He joined the clinic in 2008 and has been a full-time member of the team since August 2010. He graduated from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals before completing his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in London, including the completion of an MD thesis on the effects of genetic markers in sperm on IVF/ICSI outcome as a Research Fellow at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital where he also completed further subspecialist training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.
Mr Nicopoullos is widely published in peer-reviewed international journals on topics such as male fertility, the management of viral infections and sub-fertility and in markers of successful treatment outcome. He specializes in all aspects of assisted reproduction, including the management of women with low ovarian reserve and implantation failure as well as the management of polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent miscarriage, premature ovarian failure and menopause. He also performs operative procedures including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
Dr Zahra Sougi MB MSc
Fertility Specialist
Dr Sougi is a Fertility Specialist at the Lister Fertility Clinic, working part-time. She joined the clinic in July 2008. She previously worked at St Richards Hospital in Chichester for little over 2 years where she was a Clinical Fellow in minimal access (keyhole) surgery. She also worked at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.
Dr Sougi specialises in treating women with polycystic ovaries.
Mr Mahmoud Tolba MSc FABOG MRCOG
Gynaecology & Fertility Consultant
Mr Tolba is a Gynaecology & Fertility Consultant at the Lister Fertility Clinic. He joined the clinic in June 2009, having previously worked for 3 years as a Consultant / Quality Manager at Harley Street Fertility Centre in London. Mr Tolba has vast experience in fields of reproductive medicine, fertility and gynaecology here in the UK and overseas. He also established and ran the largest public sector low-cost IVF clinic in Cairo, Egypt. And he has attended meetings on medical, social and ethical aspects of assisted reproductive technology.
Mr Tolba specialises in treating older women with high FSH levels as well as poor responders and women with polycystic ovaries. He also performs operative procedures including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
Mr Suks Minhas MD FRCS (Urol)
Consultant Urologist and Andrologist
Mr Minhas is a Consultant Urologist and Andrologist. He is honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Urology, University College Hospital, London. He specialises in andrological surgery and is one of the only full-time andrological surgeons in the UK. He has chaired scientific meetings both nationally and internationally in the field of andrological surgery. He is also referee to a number of scientific journals. He is actively involved in the teaching and training of surgeons in the UK and is an internationally invited speaker. He is currently chairman of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, Section of Andrology and Genito-urethral Surgery.
Mr Minhas specialises in male fertility including surgery for blockages, surgical sperm retrieval including PESA, MESA and microdissection TESE for ICSI with sperm freezing and microsurgical reversal of vasectomy.
